Eunice Makepeace Towlenulls portrait of Judge Laban Wheaton (1754-1846), founder of Wheaton Female Seminary. Painted after 1834, copies by an unknown artist with different backgrounds and chairs are found in the Permanent Collection and the collections of The Old Colony Historical Society, Taunton, Mass. The mourning ring worn by the subject, in the collections of Marion B. Gebbie Archives & Special Collections, Wheaton College, contains hair of Judgenulls deceased daughter, Eliza Wheaton Strong, who died in 1834 and in whose memory Wheaton Female Seminary was founded. This portrait is in the Wheaton College Art Collection, oil on canvas.
