Islamists as instrument of change: the inclusion of mainstream Islamist groups in Egypt and Turkey: a study on democratization.

Abstract

This thesis explores the inclusion into the formal political realm of the mainstream Islamist groups in Turkey and Egypt, namely the Turkish AKP and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. I argue that the inclusion of these groups contributes to a process of democratization in these respective countries.
