In preparation for Wheaton's Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary), oral historian Valerie Quinney trained students, faculty, and alumnae to conduct interviews with a wide range of important Wheaton individuals. After 1985, the program was continued by Professor of History Emerita Nancy Norton, who was particularly interested in alumnae who had participated in sports. More recently, Provost Emerita Linda Eisenmann has trained students in her First Year Seminars to interview faculty members who are about to retire.

While most of these interviews were recorded on cassette tapes, the most recent are digital. Many of the interviews have been indexed; some have been transcribed.
