dc.description.abstract | Looks at a history of ray tracing, starting from its earliest use in the mid 80's, providing descriptions of how the algorithm works and how it has evolved over the years. Examines previous attempts to parallelize this algorithm, with special mention of their significance, how they succeeded, and potential areas of improvement. Documents the teams earliest attempts at wiring a simple ray tracer, followed by the main focus of the research: speed through parallelization. Presents a discussion of what the future holds, and where there is room for improvement in the research. | en_US |
